Dear Colleagues:
The Power of Prevention has redesigned a tool that can be essential to helping you educate your patients on their endocrine diseases and disorders. It is www.powerofprevention.com. I use this website daily in my practice and I am happy to announce that, through the efforts of many AACE members, the website is now redesigned, updated and available to the public.
Endocrine disease content previously available on the Power of Prevention website has been updated and rewritten in a patient friendly format. New AACE nutrition content is also on the website. Disease awareness sections include diabetes, lipids, adrenal disorder, men’s endocrine health, women’s endocrine health, healthy weight management, osteoporosis, parathyroid, pituitary, thyroid, and thyroid cancer.
The Power of Prevention Committee has worked to develop a website that is easily accessible to AACE members, your patients, and teachers. Navigation and graphic design were factors that received great emphasis. The committee also wanted to help you utilize materials needed to conduct Power of Prevention school presentations. Similar to the previous website, you can download the Power of Prevention PowerPoint presentation and other materials needed to visit your local school and educate students on the importance of physical activity and nutrition.
Another important new element to the website is the new Power of Prevention logo. The old logo reflected a focus on kids, but the new logo reflects all of the aspects of the campaign. The color scheme is more mature and can be utilized in patient materials appropriate for adults. The doctor character is important to show that the unique aspect of Power of Prevention is its ties to the most expert doctors in the world. AACE Director of Graphic Design Travis Cheatham designed the logo, and believes that the most important aspect is the sphere of “Power” that the doctor holds. The shape represents the hormones, chemicals, and cells that endocrinologists work with every day. The “Power” unlocked within shows the potential for dramatic change, from something so small.
Returning features include the adult and pediatric BMI calculators as well as links to our partner website, the President’s Challenge.
Please give us your feedback directly from the website by, using the new feedback tool located in the “Contact Us” section of the website.
