ENDOCRINOLOGY (ĕn”dō-krĭn-ŏl’ō-jē) - The science of the endocrine, or ductless, glands and their functions.
In common words, an endocrinologist is a medical scientist or physician who researches and treats patients with diseases relating to the endocrine system, such as diabetes, thyroid disorders, osteoporosis, obesity, and conditions related to numerous glands and hormones in the body, including the reproductive system.
To help prevent endocrine disorders, the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE) and the American College of Endocrinology (ACE) developed the Power of Prevention (POP). The primary focus of POP is to help adults, children, and families live healthy lives without limitations due to endocrine disorders and diseases.
